PRC Certificate Apply Assam - Eligibility Condition Apply Process
Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) is obtained by candidates seeking
admission into educational institutions if the particular institution
mandates the need of the document. It is issued in accordance with the
existing provisions after validation by the Deputy Commissioner and
Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil). The document would include a statement
conveying that the certificate is only valid for the purpose of admission
into the particular institution, and for not any other purposes. In this
article, we look at the procedure for obtaining Assam permanent residence
certificate in details.
Eligibility Criteria
The scheme is applicable to any of the following categories of residents:
A person who has resided in the State of Assam along with his parents and forefathers for at-least 50 years or the parents and forefathers of the person has resided in the state for the same length of time.
A person who has continuously resided in the state for at-least 20
years.
A person who is a child of any of the above-mentioned persons.
Application Procedure
The applicant can apply for the document by remitting a fee for the court fee
stamp and application, which is Rs. 2 and Rs. 50, respectively. Let’s examine
the application procedure in a step-by-step manner:
Step 1:- Application Form
The application form for obtaining PRC must be duly filled by the applicant and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner or S.D.O (Civil) concerned in duplicate.
Step 2:- Acknowledgment of the application
The application, once acknowledged as received by the Deputy Commissioner or S.D.O (Civil), will be forwarded to the concerned SP and Circle Officer for making the necessary enquiries and report.
Step 3:- Deputy Commissioners Consent
The application will be further forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner, who after verifying the report and affirming his satisfaction; will issue the certificate to the applicant.
Required Documents
The following documents must be supported with the application form:
- Two copies of passport size photos.
- Records of immovable property (if any). This must be supported by an updated receipt of land revenue.
- Copy of Indian passport.
- Certified copy of NRC 1951 (explained below).
- Certified copy of the voters list.
- A PRC copy of any of the family members of the applicant (if any) stating the relationship with the applicant.
- Copy of the Birth Certificate of the applicant.
- Copy of HSLC Certificate/Admit Card.
- Employment Certificate of the applicant.
- Documents portraying that the parents and forefathers of the applicant have resided in the state for a minimum of 50 years.
- Documents portraying that the guardians of the applicant have continuously resided in Assam for at-least 20 years.
